Ballet NDB 2:
Uroboros / On the Beautiful Blue… / The Water Goblin
Duration:
2 hours
2 intermissions
The programme starts with choreography called Uroboros. The name of the ancient symbol that represents the cyclical nature of things, time and the endless, uninterrupted course of life, which includes the eternal struggle between good and evil, became the theme for the opening choreography.
This dynamic performance will be accompanied by an unusual fusion of electronic and medieval music by Chronomad, Murcof and composer Guillaume de Machaut. The choreography by Mário Radačovský, artistic director of the NdB Ballet, entitled On the Beautiful Blue…, accompanied by the music of Johann Strauss jr., presents the qualities of this young company, where movement and speed are the main attributes. Markéta Pimek Habalová, choreographer of Vodník (The Water Goblin), was inspired by the tragic story of the ballad of the same name from the iconic poetry collection by Karel Jaromír Erben, The Bouquet, which was set to music in 1896 by the world’s most performed Czech composer Antonín Dvořák.
